Phillips sets sights on GB Olympic squad

Sullivan Phillips believes winning a spot in Great Britain’s Olympic squad would the pinnacle of his career.Phillips, who plays professionally in Slovakia, was named in the preliminary Standard Life Great Britain Men’s basketball squad last week. He was joined by NBA stars Luol Deng (Chicago Bulls), Ben Gordon (Detroit Pistons) and Byron Mullens (Charlotte Bobcats) after all three confirmed their availability and commitment to pull on the Great Britain jersey this summer.The BC Prievidza said: “The call up to Great Britain is great opportunity, and would be a defining moment for me personally and professionally,” said Phillips. “If I make the Olympic roster to date it would definitely be the pinnacle of my career to date for sure.”The preliminary squad of 21 players will be cut down to 16 at the beginning of May with two additional places available for Great Britain Futures squad members.The final roster of 12 players heading to the Olympic Games this summer will then be announced early in July.
