Falls in the share price of Butterfield Bank, Argus Group Holdings Ltd and Ascendant Group Ltd weighed on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index today.

Butterfield slid by one cent, or 0.5 percent, to $1.99 as 96,912 shares traded.

Insurer Argus suffered the biggest fall, sliding 15 cents, or 3.6 percent, to $4, on the trading of 900 shares.

Ascendant, the parent company of Belco, fell five cents, or 0.8 percent, to $6.10.

The Index fell 7.85 points, or 0.56 percent, to 1,396.17. Volume was 111,723 shares, while turnover was just shy of $403,000.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 2.48 points, or 0.17 percent, to close on 1,469.17.
