Butterfield and Argus gain

BF&M: shares fell 0.5 per cent last week on the Bermuda Stock Exchange

Shares of Butterfield Bank and Argus Group climbed last week, helping the The Royal Gazette/BSX Index to record a small advance.

Argus was the biggest climber of the week, gaining 20 cents, or 5.3 per cent, to close on $4 as 3,000 shares changed hands.

Butterfield added a cent, or 0.6 per cent, to close on $1.79 as 32,292 shares were traded.

Those two gainers were enough to outweigh the three decliners last week.

Telecommunications firm KeyTech Ltd slid 13.6 per cent over the five days of trading. The company’s shares closed at $2.55, 40 cents lower for the week, on the trading of 2,000 shares.

BF&M dipped eight cents, or 0.5 per cent, to close the week at $16.71, as 1,100 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank’s eight per cent preference shares also dipped 16 cents to $1,137 as five shares were traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 2.34 points, or 0.19 per cent, at 1,225.54. Trading volume for the week was 39,397 shares, while turnover topped $104,000.
