The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed at 1,180.01, down 7.8 points, or 0.66 per cent, after a holiday-shortened week.

Shares of BF&M were up on the week, closing 30 cents higher, or 1.8 per cent, at $17 after 919 were traded. Also improving were shares of Argus Group, which ended up one cent, or 0.3 per cent, at $4 after 51,500 changed hands.

Ascendant Group shares lost 15 cents, of 3.4 per cent, to close at $4.25 after 854 traded.

Butterfield Bank shares were two cents lower, or 1.2 per cent, at $1.65 after 220,413 changed hands.

The BSX Insurance Index was up 11.56 points, or 0.7 per cent, at 1,629.51.
