BSX holds steady

Flat day: shares of Butterfield and Ascendant traded but their prices did not change

Shares of Butterfield Bank and Ascendant Group traded on the Bermuda Stock Exchange, as both stocks stayed at 52-week high levels.

Butterfield remained on $40 as 500 of its shares changed hands. The bank’s New York Stock Exchange-listed shares climbed 23 cents, or 0.57 per cent to close on $40.48.

Ascendant, owner of power utility Belco, was unchanged on $10 as 500 shares traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed where it started, on 2,313.29.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 10.31 points, or 0.58 per cent, to close on 1,831.71.
