HSBC shares up 2.9%

Shares of HSBC Holdings plc improved by 15 cents, or 2.94 per cent, to $5.25 after 500 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.
Butterfield Bank as up 50 cents, or 1.3 per cent, to $39 after 500 shares were exchanged. On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank's shares were down $1.22, or 3.21 per cent, at $36.74.
The Royal Gazette/BEX Index was up 26.82 points, or 1.02 per cent, at 2,650.79, while the BSX Insurance Index fell 23.06 points, or 1.31 per cent, to 1,741.01.
