A man who threatened his former girlfriend with a knife in a grocery store parking lot was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment.Kishuani Wolffe, 24, of Dundonald Street, Pembroke, was found guilty of having a bladed weapon in a public place and criminal assault. Magistrates' Court heard that on April 26, Wolffe approached Danielle Foley at a MarketPlace store. Appearing angry, he repeatedly told her that they needed to talk, but she refused. After leaving the shop, he confronted her in the parking lot, and at one point produced a knife and held it to her neck. Wolffe denied ever producing a knife although he admitted that she did seem somewhat frightened. He said that after a ten or 20-minute conversation, they agreed to meet later.Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo called the offence very serious. “You had no excuse to carry this knife in a public place. Not only did you have it in a public place, you used it. You used it to terrify.“Even taking it out could lead to serious consequences. You're lucky it didn't go any further.”Wolffe was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment for carrying a bladed article and 12 months for criminal assault last Wednesday. Time already served was taken into account. Both sentences were ordered to run concurrently.Mr Tokunbo ordered Wolffe to serve two years of probation once he is released from prison. Among the conditions attached to his probation is that he undergo treatment for anger management.
