Michael Jackson trial causes delay in Dr Kevin Brown's hearing

The case of a doctor accused over Michael Jackson's death meant the sex case against the son of former Premier Ewart Brown got delayed again.Kevin Brown also a doctor was first accused more two-and-a-half years ago of molesting female patients at his Los Angeles office.He's facing 33 felony sex charges spanning a five-year period, and his 12 alleged victims include a 15-year-old girl and an undercover vice cop.He denies the allegations and is on bail awaiting trial at Los Angeles County Superior Court.Dr Brown Jr has attended numerous pre-trial hearings, and the latest one got postponed yesterday without any date for the trial being set.Prosecutor Rouman Ebrahim said that was due to the high-profile case surrounding the death of the King of Pop.“The court to which we are assigned is conducting a multi-day preliminary hearing on the case of the doctor accused of being responsible for Michael Jackson's death. Therefore, the judge asked that everyone come back next week,” he explained.“They're holding a long preliminary hearing and that takes a lot of time and brings a lot of people and media.”Doctor Conrad Murray is facing a felony count of involuntary manslaughter in the June 2009 death of the pop star.Mr Ebrahim said after the last hearing in the Brown case in October that he was expected to go on trial early in 2011.Asked for an update on that yesterday, he replied: “I don't know, we'll see.”The case has experienced delays because Dr Brown Jr had problems securing a lawyer, and the case is stuck in a court backlog. Yesterday's hearing has been re-listed for January 13.
