'I'm as guilty as sin' admits drink-driver
A Warwick man charged with driving impaired told Magistrates’ Court yesterday that he was “guilty as sin”.Alexander Brangman, 47, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol.Crown counsel Larissa Burgess said police were on patrol near the junction of Harbour Road and Chapel Road in Paget when they saw a car travelling at high speed on December 11.Officers pulled over the driver of the car, who was travelling west on Harbour Road. They noticed he smelled of alcohol and asked if he had been drinking.Brangman told the officers: “Yeah, I had a few drinks, but I can still drive. I can drive better than you.”Yesterday he admitted the offence, telling Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner: “I’m guilty as sin.”Mr Warner fined Brangman $1,000 and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for one year.
