As they approached they could smell a strong scent of fresh cannabis coming from his direction. They searched him and found a wallet in his rear left jeans pants pocket containing four twists with plant-like material. The man denied the twists were his. He was then arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station. The drugs were sealed into an evidence bag and submitted to the Government analyst. Tests proved them to be 4.7 grams of the controlled drug cannabis.Flood asked Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner for leniency.“I am not working right now so if I have to pay a fine I wanted to know if I could get some time,” he said.Mr Warner fined him $800 for the offence, which he must pay before February 13.
