Drink driver was three times above legal limit

A 33-year-old St George’s man was banned from the roads for a year after driving with close to three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.Police found Gladwyn Bean, of Smith’s Hill Road, slumped in a stationary vehicle by Jacob’s Point Road in St David’s at 4.17am on January 18.Bean did not know where he was and smelled strongly of alcohol.When he was arrested, Bean told them: “I’ve got work tomorrow, and I live just around the corner.”A breath test showed he had 218 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol.Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Bean $800 and ordered him to pay by March 4. He was disqualified from driving for one year.
