Jury finds Sherwin Hall not guilty of stabbing man

Teenager Sherwin Hall thanked God yesterday after a jury found him not guilty of stabbing a 17-year-old with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.Kyle Fraser suffered life-threatening injuries including numerous wounds to his chest and abdomen.He was flown overseas for medical treatment, including open heart surgery, following the April 17 incidentMr Hall, a 19-year-old resident of Spring Benny Road, Sandys, admitted he was involved in a fight with Mr Fraser on April 17.However he argued he was forced to protect himself from Mr Fraser, who was wielding a knife at the time.During the trial, the court heard that Mr Fraser approached Mr Hall at a Sandys bus stop with two other men.Mr Fraser accused him of breaking into his home and stealing a necklace.Mr Fraser told the court that Mr Hall produced a knife during a fist fight.Mr Hall alleged that Mr Fraser was the one holding the knife during the daylight brawl.Mr Hall’s lawyer Marc Daniels said his client was focused only on keeping the weapon pointed away from him during the altercation.He said that Mr Hall fled to the safety of nearby Traditions Restaurant as soon as he gained control of the blade. Once there he called police and waited for their arrival.A Supreme Court jury was unanimous in its finding that Mr Hall was not guilty.As he left the court, Mr Hall hugged his crying mother, who had been waiting to hear the verdict. Asked for his thoughts on the verdict, he said: “God bless, no man could curse.”
