A man accused of a murder plot turned up to Supreme Court in his pyjamas yesterday.

Pelealkhai Williams, 23, is accused along with Jonathan Dill, 28, of conspiring to kill Rodney Grimes.

Mr Grimes was shot near Gravity nightclub on North Shore Road, Devonshire, around 3am on Saturday October 8 2011.

Both accused men are being held in custody, and Mr Williams opted to turn up to the monthly arraignments session clad in a pair of striped pyjamas rather than the usual orange prison garb.

His defence lawyer Shade Subair told the court: “I will apologise for the attire of my client,” but did not elaborate further on what prompted him to don the sleepwear.

Chief Justice Richard Ground remanded both men into custody until their trial begins on April 23.

Other cases dealt with at the monthly arraignments session involved allegations of drugs, assaults and robbery.

Kenneth Zuill, 39, is accused of conspiring with Mary Johnson and Michelle Gibbons, along with others not before the courts, to import cannabis. The crime is alleged to have been committed between an unknown date and October 21 2010.

Mr Zuill, of Deepdale Road East, Pembroke, pleaded not guilty and his trial was set for August 20. He was bailed until then.

Ezra Williams, 26, Ezra Ararat, 25, and Zharrin Simmons, 20, are accused of robbing a man and woman at knifepoint on Hermitage Road in Devonshire on August 27 2011.

They are alleged to have taken a cell phone belonging to Kenneth Williams, 21, and jewellery belonging to Victoria Decoute, 17. They are further charged with possessing a knife in a public place which was an increased penalty zone due to its proximity to Elliott Primary.

They pleaded not guilty and their trial was fixed for July 9. Ms Simmons, of Farmstead Lane, Sandys, was bailed. Mr Williams, of Rambling Lane, Pembroke, and Mr Ararat of Boundary Crescent, Devonshire, were remanded into custody.

Jamel Richardson and Ridge Mello-Sousa, both 20, are accused of wounding Kewunde Bean with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm on Dundonald Street, Hamilton, on December 15 2011.

Mr Richardson did not enter a plea. Defence lawyer Leonard Holder asked that that procedure be delayed until the next arraignments session on April 1 so a medical report can be prepared to determine if Mr Richardson is fit.

Mr Mello-Sousa pleaded not guilty. Both men were bailed until their next appearance in court on April 1.
