A Pembroke man was fined $500 after police found him with 2.04 grammes of cannabis on the outdoor patio of the Captain’s Lounge in Hamilton.

Yuki Pearman, 29, admitted the charge.

The court heard that police officers were conducting a liquor licence check at the Captain’s Lounge on Reid Street when they smelt cannabis coming from the outdoor patio.

Officers approached Pearman and while searching him they found a clear plastic twist containing plantlike material that subsequent analysis showed to be cannabis.
