A Warwick man who urinated in the middle of a Hamilton restaurant has been fined $300 for his behaviour.

Antoine Mouchette, 51, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to a charge of unlawfully performing an indecent act in view of members of the public.

The court heard that at around 5.20pm on December 17, 2016, officers were called to the Speciality Cinema and Grill over a report of an “annoying person”.

When they arrived, they were told by management that an unknown man had been sleeping in the restaurant that afternoon. When the man woke up, he urinated in the restaurant in full view of customers before walking out through the Church Street exit.

Officers reviewed CCTV footage of the incident and set out to find the suspect. They later located Mouchette at the flagpole on Front Street and questioned him about the incident.

Speaking to the officers, he said that he was “probably” the one responsible, although he added that he could not recall the incident because he had been drinking.

Shown the video footage, he said: “It looks like my shirt, but that’s not my style.”

After pleading guilty to the offence, Mouchette apologised for his actions, asking the court if he could do community service to amend for his actions.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo instead fined Mouchette $300, ordering that the sum be paid by the end of the week.
