Delivery driver needed hospital treatment after being punched

A delivery driver needed hospital treatment for head and facial injuries after he was punched and kicked by a man who wanted him to move his truck.

Edward Tavares was delivering goods to The MarketPlace on Church Street, in February, when David Brangman asked him to move his vehicle, Magistrates’ Court heard.

Brangman quickly became annoyed and punched and kicked Mr Tavares, who had to attend King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to head and facial injuries sustained from the incident.

Brangman, 59, from Devonshire, admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Tavares when he appeared in court last week.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered a social inquiry report and drug assessment for Brangman and adjourned the case until June 30 for sentencing. He was released on $5,000 bail.
