Man fined for stealing from workplace

A man who stole windows and a screen from his workplace has been fined $1,000 in Magistrates’ Court.

Angelo Trott, 42, from Pembroke, admitted stealing the items, valued at $1,780, from Baptiste Limited when he appeared in court.

The court heard that Trott was seen loading the merchandise into a vehicle on September 5.

Trott, who told management that he had lost the purchase ticket for the items, was fired after the incident and turned himself in to police on September 25.

He called his actions a “big mistake” during yesterday’s appearance and told magistrate Craig Attridge that he was trying to use an employee discount when removing the goods.

The business has since been reimbursed for the stolen items.
