Man who choked child given conditional discharge

A man who placed a child in a choke hold was given a 12-month conditional discharge in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Edmund Simons, 71, from Sandys, admitted placing his hands around the boy’s neck and threatening to “take him out” when he appeared in court in March.

The incident occurred on August 29.

Magistrate Craig Attridge warned Simons to stay out of trouble during his discharge, or have his sentence changed to a harsher one.
