Man sentenced for intimidating jurors
A Sandys man who attempted to influence jurors during a Supreme Court trial has been sentenced to time served in custody.
In court last year, Perry Smith, 62, admitted using “threats or intimidation” against three jurors and waving a pipe in front of a woman.
Smith committed the offences in April 2023 while Trovaughn Smith was on trial for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and having a machete.
Prosecutors entered a nolle prosequi, or a request for indefinite adjournment, after the incident occurred and the trial was dismissed.
Perry Smith spent 14 months in custody in connection with the offences, which he initially denied, but was later given bail and changed his plea.
Magistrate Craig Attridge sentenced Smith in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
