Man accused of sexually assaulting teenager

A man is on trial for sexually assaulting and intruding on the privacy of a teenage girl.

The 33-year-old denied committing the offences on January 28, 2023.

Neither the man nor alleged victim can be identified for legal reasons.

The woman, who was under the age of 18 when the alleged offences occurred, told the court yesterday had that she visited the man’s Warwick home to take part in a photoshoot.

She claimed the accused watched her change clothes and made inappropriate comments before making her perform a sexual act on him.

The alleged victim, who claimed to have never been paid for the photoshoot, visited King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after the incident and identified the man at Hamilton Police Station days later.

When questioned by defence lawyer Chardonnay Hughes, the woman admitted participating in an earlier photoshoot with the man, but denied initiating the sexual act.

The trial, before magistrate Craig Attridge, continues today.
