Rider sent to DUI treatment court
A man stopped by police while driving under the influence has been ordered to participate in a court treatment programme.
Delano Talbot, 56, admitted drink-driving when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court heard that police stopped Talbot along Blue Hole Hill in Hamilton Parish on August 16.
Talbot, from St George’s, admitted drinking before getting on his bike.
He was taken to the Hamilton Police Station, where breath tests showed between 121 and 131 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered a drug report to be written for Talbot and directed him to observe DUI Court starting September 23.
Ms Sofianos released Talbot on $1,500 bail and disqualified him from driving all vehicles until further notice.
