Woman banned 18 months for refusing breath test
A woman who refused to take a breath test after she fell asleep in her car has been disqualified from driving for 18 months.
Sharoni Darrell, 52, admitted not taking the test when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court heard that officers saw Darrell asleep in a parked car on Middle Road, Southampton on September 9.
The car’s engine, lights and radio were on when police approached. Darrell, from Sandys, admitted drinking before getting in the vehicle.
She agreed to provide a breath sample at the scene but changed her mind once at Hamilton Police Station.
As well as being banned, Darrell was fined $1,200 for the offence.
