The rescheduled Premier Division 50 Overs contest between St David’s and Somerset at Lord’s today has been called off because of inclement weather.

Umpires Anderson Cumberbatch and Melvin Best, after consultations with the groundstaff, informed the teams just after 1pm that the match was off, as there was no sun forecast for the rest of the day to allow the field to dry.

Ground personnel are said to have also indicated that there was not enough time to prepare the pitch.

“The game got called off due to the weather,” Derrick Brangman, the St David’s captain said.

With the cricket season approaching its final weeks before it gives way to football, the two teams will receive five points each.

St David’s will hold the aces going into the final weekend of league matches as they top the standings, five points ahead of champions St George’s.
