West Indies star Bravo to host workshops on island
Former West Indies star Dwayne Bravo will head up a high-performance coaching and player development workshop during a whirlwind visit to the island next month.
Bravo, 42, was instrumental in West Indies’s T20 World Cup victories in 2012 and 2016. He formerly held the world record for the most wickets in T20 cricket (631) and is the only cricketer to have surpassed 5,000 runs and 500 wickets in the T20 format. He was also the first player to achieve more than 100 wickets and 1,000 runs in the Indian Premier League.
The all-rounder will be on island on November 1 and 2 and is looking forward to sharing his expertise with local cricket stakeholders.
“I’m truly honoured to be invited by the Bermuda Cricket Board to share my experience and knowledge with the players and coaches,” Bravo said.
“These workshops are about more than just skills; they’re about mindset, discipline and preparing to perform at the highest level. I’m looking forward to connecting with Bermuda’s cricket community, helping to inspire the next generation and celebrating the passion we all share for the game.”
Bravo’s two-day workshops will take place at Bermuda College (theory) and White Hill Field (practical) and will involve only invited participants.
The workshops will place emphasis on both the mental and technical aspects of high-level performance, emphasising the modern player’s mindset, preparation and adaptability, alongside specialised T20 skills such as batting strategies across match phases and precision bowling in death overs.
At the conclusion of the workshops, the BCB will formally close the event with a cocktail reception at Bermuda Public Services Union headquarters, offering participants including players, coaches, officials, sponsors, supporters and members of the general public an opportunity to further engage with Dwayne Bravo, Andre Coley and BCB members.
According to BCB, the collaboration with Bravo represents a major step in strengthening Bermuda’s high-performance cricket pathway and advancing coach and player development.
“The BCB is honoured to welcome Dwayne Bravo to Bermuda,” BCB president Lloyd Smith said.
His expertise and passion for the game align perfectly with our mission to raise the standards of cricket across the island and the Americas.”
