Police arrested three people over the weekend and seized a quantity of suspected heroin.

The arrests come after police issued a public advisory last week about fentanyl-laced heroin, which is believed to have resulted in three people being admitted to hospital.

A police spokesman said: “On Saturday, the BPS executed an operation dubbed ‘Operation Holly’, under the authority of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

“Police officers from the Drug Unit, Tactical Department and Criminal Investigation Unit participated in the exercise.

“Three people have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug with intent to supply after police conducted search warrants at three residences in Pembroke. seizing a quantity of suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia and cash.”

Superintendent Sherwin Joseph of the Crime Division said: “The successful seizures have effectively disrupted a drug network operating in Bermuda and have contributed to the protection of our community from the harmful effects of illicit or dangerous drugs.”

Members of the public with information about criminal activity are urged to report it to police calling the main police number, 295-0011, or 211, or by speaking with a police officer they know.
