Hatherley first in Hamilton criterium
Mark Hatherly shrugged off the challenge of Brian Drea and Damian Sharp to win the Adult ‘A’ division in Bermuda Bicyle Association’s criterium in Hamilton on Sunday.The Team Winner’s Edge rider held his nerve to clinch victory with Drea placing second and Sharp finishing third.In the Adult ‘B’ division Ricky Smith sr claimed line honours while Delan Richardson and Stephen Tomlinson were second and third respectively.Nigel Godfrey took Adult ‘C’ category honours and Rico Smith captured the Junior ‘A’ title.Zion Dowling and Jayden Ming won the Junior ‘B’ and ‘C’ categories respectively.The criterium marked the fourth race of the 2011 points series and the second race of the IBC Hamilton Criterium Series.Racing continues tonight with the Morgan’s Point criterium set to start at 6.30 pm.Rugby team rise in rankingsCaribbean champions Bermuda have climbed four places up to 47th in the International Rugby Board World Rankings their highest ever position.The region’s top ranked side beat Guyana in the Caribbean Championships 11-0 last week.With 94 countries in total ranked, Bermuda are rated higher than many countries with significantly larger populations including China, India and Israel.Manders team on win streakTaurean Manders’ Capital City FC extended their unbeaten streak to seven games after drawing with York Region Shooters 1-1 at the weekend.North Village defender Manders signed for the Ottawa-based side at the start of the season after impressing in a trial.City are fourth in the Canada Professional Soccer League.
