Watch: Bermuda win four medals on opening day of Caribbean Cycling Championships
Bermuda’s impressive run of success at the Caribbean Cycling Championships continued on Saturday morning.
Bermuda’s two representatives in the men’s time-trial, Conor White and Kaden Hopkins, came home first and second respectively as the island’s cyclists occupied the top two spots on the podium.
Gabriella Arnold finished runner-up in the women’s time-trial and Nicholas Narraway picked up a silver medal in the under-23 men’s race.
White stopped the clock in 41min 32.52sec, finishing 36 seconds clear of his compatriot Kaden Hopkins, who arrived in Guyana late after being prevented from travelling to the US because of Esta issues early in the week. Hopkins finished a minute clear of bronze medal-winner Cory Williams, of Belize.
Gabriella Arnold, who won gold in this event in 2023, lost out this year by just five seconds to Berenice Paul, of Guadeloupe, while Narraway agonisingly came even closer to being named Caribbean champion, finishing runner-up by 1.9 seconds to Christopher Morales, from Puerto Rico.
Bermuda’s riders are all in action in their respective road races tomorrow with Tyler Smith joining Hopkins and White in the senior men’s event.
