Schools, Bermuda College to reopen today

Public schools will reopen today after they were checked for damage following Hurricane Fiona.

Bermuda College students will also return to classes.

Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education, said: “Following Hurricane Fiona, all public school buildings have been assessed to safely reopen.

“The ministry and Department of Education are pleased to report that all schools will be open tomorrow, Monday, September 26, for in-person learning.

“On behalf of our students, staff, and parents, I wish to thank those who assisted with the inspection of our school buildings and properties this past weekend.

“I also wish to thank Belco for prioritising our schools to ensure electricity was restored in time to open schools.”

He added: “We are blessed to have weathered the hurricane safely, and we look forward to welcoming our students back to school tomorrow.”

A spokeswoman for the college confirmed it will be open today.

She added: “Classes and normal business operations will resume as normal.”
