A programme that supports and empowers children recently recognised parents, partners and colleagues for their commitment.

The Child Development Programme presented ten people with awards at its stakeholder appreciation event on Friday.

CDP, which helps children from birth to the age of four reach their potential, also announced its new accreditation by the Bermuda National Standards Committee, which it will have until 2026, at the event.

Awardees

Cleveland Richardson won best community partner for organising the five-week fatherhood series in November.

Noelle and Kelly Young won best parent advocates for their input within the last year.

Notasha Rayner, who represented the child development programme in meetings and conferences, won the prize for best internal collaboration.

Renee Brown was named the best external collaborator for helping CDP whenever she can.

Teresa Woolridge, who coordinates the Department of Health’s occupational and physical therapy units, received the prize for early intervention.

Paediatrician Sylvanus Nawab was recognised for excellence in coordinated care.

Jennifer LePage Hamel received the champions for children prize.

CDP employees Edwina Jjombwe and Gabriella Rees were recognised for their performance improvement.

Formed in 2005, the BNSC accredits service organisations on the island that operate according to international standards.

Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education, thanked the CDP team who “worked tirelessly to achieve this [accreditation]”.

CDP coordinator Terrylynn Tyrrell said stakeholders’ feedback and experience “helps us identify areas for improvement and enhance the services we offer to the 600 families we serve annually”.

Kalmar Richards, the Commissioner of Education, also congratulated the programme’s team and said: “Organisations can achieve excellent results with teamwork; however, organisations can only achieve outstanding results with partnerships.”

People learnt more about CDP and its team at an open house, held after the award presentation.
