Students at the Bermuda College will soon be able to thrive in a brand new state-of-the-art classroom.

The recently completed transformation is part of the Bermuda College Foundation’s modernisation drive, and was made possible through a $150,000 donation from Essent Reinsurance Ltd.

The space was designed to reflect the technology-driven workforce of today and to ensure students are confident using the tools they will encounter in their professional careers.

The renovation project, led by Cleun Gaiton, Bermuda College’s director of facilities, and undertaken by Help Bda, included a full electrical upgrade, installation of energy-efficient LED lighting, removal of outdated ductwork and insulation, new heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls, new flooring, ceiling tiles and a fresh coat of paint.

Kerry Judd, executive director of Bermuda College Foundation, said Essent Re’s investment would help students “transition seamlessly into the workforce, regardless of their chosen field”.

Since 2020, Essent Re has contributed $100,000 in scholarship funding, in partnership with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, to support equitable access to quality tertiary education.

Paul Wollmann, president of Essent Re, added: “Providing a modern space where the next generation can learn, collaborate and thrive is the greatest return on investment we could ask for.”
