Variable and light winds forecast for today
The wind could arrive a little late for this weekend’s races, as wet weather was last night forecast to creep back toward the Island.
Winds today are expected to be variable and light, with showers and breaks of sunshine throughout the weekend.
Westerly winds will gradually turn northward as the weekend progresses, with moderate winds developing by later tomorrow. Strong winds are unlikely to develop until evening.
Meanwhile, a thunderstorm advisory is in effect through today, according to the Bermuda Weather Service.
Asked if the light winds could affect racing, ACEA communications director Peter Rusch said: “Of course sailing is very dependent on the weather but we have a wide wind range where we can have fair racing, from 6 to 25 knots of wind speed.
“We are hopeful we get good racing in over the weekend to put on a great show for Bermuda.”
