Luton Town striker Nahki Wells could potentially return to Luton Town’s starting line-up as early as Tuesday night.

Wells rates himself as 50-50 for their EFL League One fixture at home to Wigan after being ruled out of Luton’s game against his former club Bradford City with a muscle strain picked up in training in the build-up to the match, whcih ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Hatters.

“I just got a slight muscle strain last week so it put me out for Saturday,” Wells told The Royal Gazette.

“I am touch and go for tomorrow’s fixture with the view to being fit for the weekend and hopefully 100 per cent.

“That’s as much as I can say at the moment but it shouldn’t be an issue going forward beyond this week. Hopefully there will be no setbacks and I should be back and up and running in the next few days.”

Luton manager Matt Bloomfield said the experienced striker remains a “possibility” for today’s fixture with Wigan.

The Hatters are ninth in the table with two wins and a defeat in their three games, while Wigan are also heading into the match after being beaten 2-0 at home to Peterborough in their previous outing at the weekend.

News of Wells’s anticipated speedy recovery will come as a relief to national coach Michael Findlay as the former captain has made himself available for the Gombey Warriors’ crucial final round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

They will kick off their campaign when they host regional powerhouses Jamaica at Flora Duffy Stadium on September 5 before facing Curaçao four days later at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad.

The Gombey Warriors will then face Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica in October and Curacao and Trinidad and Tobago in November.
