Nathan Trott suffers first loss of season with Cardiff
Nathan Trott’s Cardiff City suffered their first defeat of the season at home to Bradford City in League One at the weekend.
Bermudian goalkeeper Trott pulled off two good saves but it was not enough to help his team to any points as the previously unbeaten Bluebirds lost 3-1 on Saturday.
Tommy Leigh, Antoni Sarcevic and Josh Neufville were on target for Bradford, while Callum Robinson netted a consolation for City.
Trott was called into action early as he was tested by winger Neufville and forward Will Swan before midfielder Leigh put Bradford ahead as Cardiff conceded their first goal from open play this season.
Midfielder Sarvecic then doubled the Bantams advantage from the penalty spot after team-mate Gabriel Osho was brought down in the area.
Neufville netted the Bantams' third of the game after getting on the end of midfielder Bobby Pointon’s cross in the penalty box before forward Robinson eventually pulled one back for Luton.
Previous league leaders City have dropped to fourth in the standings on 17 points and are winless in their last two matches after drawing 1-1 away to Stockport County the weekend before.
Elsewhere in League One on Saturday, Nahki Wells’s Luton Town suffered their second straight loss after losing 3-1 away to Lincoln City.
Luton dodged a bullet when City winger Adam Reach’s free-kick pinged the crossbar early on but their luck soon ran out as forward Ben House put the home side ahead to earn them a 1-0 advantage at the interval.
Bermuda captain Wells had the Hatters first chance of the afternoon, which he volleyed wide, but it was game on after midfielder Jordan Clark buried striker Millenic Alli’s pass from a short free-kick to bring the teams level.
However, City struck twice in the final ten minutes through goals from striker Justin Obikwu and House to secure the points.
Luton are eleventh in the standings with twelve points, four adrift of the play-off positions.
