Two young Bermudian footballers, Jahni Simmons and Harlem Bean-Fox, are undergoing trials at professional clubs.

Simmons is attending weekly training sessions at Halifax, a side playing in the Women’s National League Northern Premier, the third tier of women's football in England, while Bean-Fox has been aiming to impress coaches at Coventry City Under-18 since Monday.

Both players are enrolled at Future Pro Academy in England and Demir Vavan, the academy’s founder and managing director, believes the trial gives 20-year-old Bermuda Simmons a chance to break into the professional ranks.

“We’re delighted to share that Jahni Simmons is currently on trial with Halifax, a respected club competing in the third tier of the women’s professional game — just two steps below the Women’s Super League,” Vavan told The Royal Gazette.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Jahni and a reflection of the quality and consistency she’s been showing in her performances this season.

“Alongside her development at Future Pro Academy, Jahni is currently playing for Coventry Sphinx Women, where she recently scored in the FA Cup — a proud moment and a clear indicator of her ability to deliver in big games.

“Her next match is this Sunday against Aston Villa, which will be another great challenge as she continues to rise through the ranks.

“As a striker in our Under-21 Women’s English Colleges Football Association Category 1 Premier Division side, Jahni has been a standout — consistently scoring goals, working tirelessly and developing both technically and tactically.

“She approaches every session with focus and hunger, and that’s now being recognised at a higher level.

“At Future Pro Academy, we’re incredibly proud of her progress. She’s an exciting talent with real potential and we’ll be supporting her every step of the way as she continues her journey.”

Vavan views Bean-Fox’s trial as a reward for the 17-year-old’s hard work since the start of the season.

“We’re incredibly proud of Harlem Bean-Fox for earning a weeklong trial with Coventry City,” Vavan said.

“This opportunity is a reflection of his dedication, discipline and standout performances over the past months.

“He has been training full-time with us at Future Pro Academy and developing exceptionally well, consistently performing at a high level.

“Harlem has scored and assisted in the Under-18 Midlands Midweek Floodlit Youth League Premier Division, the Under-19 ECFA Category 1 Premier League and Under-23 National Football Youth League.

“At Future Pro, we are committed to creating pathways for elite-level talent. Harlem’s progress is a shining example of what’s possible through hard work, belief and the right environment.

“We’ll be supporting him every step of the way on this exciting next stage of his journey.”
