North Village seek to bounce back against Trojans
North Village will look to bounce back from their first league loss of the season when they host Somerset Trojans at Bernard Park tonight (8pm).
Dandy Town ended Village’s unbeaten start in the Premier Division last Saturday, leaving Calvin Dill Jr’s men three points adrift of the champions. Victory over Trojans would close that gap.
Village had started the league in impressive fashion, with victories over Paget, X-Roads and Devonshire Cougars before falling to Town.
“We have to go into this match just like any other game,” Dill said.
“We must not take it for granted. We trained hard on Tuesday, we hope it pays off on Friday and continue to create chances and put them away.”
Somerset head into the encounter high on confidence after picking up their first win of the season when they defeated Young Men’s Social Club.
It will be the second meeting between the two sides this season at the same venue. Last month, Village defeated Somerset 5-1 in a Dudley Eve Trophy group encounter.
On Sunday, Town, the only unconquered side in the league after four matches, face an unpredictable Paget, whom they defeated in the Dudley Eve Trophy semi-finals.
Jarreau Hayward and Antwan Russell’s teams are meeting in the first of two matches at PHC Field, with PHC taking on Social Club in the second encounter.
Police Field is the venue of the Devonshire derby between Devonshire Colts and Devonshire Cougars. Both teams are on seven points each after picking up two wins and a draw.
Winless St George’s Colts take on X-Roads at Wellington Oval, hoping home advantage will inspire a first league victory against a side that also yet to record a league win this season.
