Fire truck drivers’ training starts next week

Training: Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service will carry out emergency driving exercises starting on Monday, February 15 (File Photograph)

Fire officers will take part in emergency driver training for up to five weeks from Monday.

The “simulated” exercises will run until March 19.

A Government spokeswoman said: “The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service wishes to allay public concerns as there will be an increase of heavy fire appliances on the road.

“In some instances they will be displaying emergency lights and sirens during the training exercises.”

Trainees will always be driving under the guidance of an instructor.

She asked members of the public to be patient and exercise caution while the training takes place.
