A house lost a piece of its roadside wall yesterday after it suffered a glancing blow from a trash truck.

Neighbours of the house on Hermitage Road, Smith’s said they heard a bang and saw the trash truck stopped at the roadside.

A resident in the building said he was called just after 1pm and told the truck had swerved to avoid a car.

The public works ministry, which is responsible for trash collection, was unable to provide a comment by press time.
