Waste collection changes for Labour Day

The island’s trash collection schedule will be pushed back by one day next week because of the Labour Day holiday.

The Ministry of Public Works and Environment said trash collection will follow a “roll over” schedule as Monday’s waste will be collected on Tuesday.

The change in schedule will conclude with waste normally collected on Friday instead being picked up on Saturday.

Recycling collection will be unaffected by the holiday, the ministry said.

The Tynes Bay Public Drop-off will be open from 9am until noon on September 1.

On all other days, the facility will follow regular opening times of 7am until 7pm.
