Dillas shines on opening day
Bermuda’s Jarryd Dillas, Will Haddrell and Fraser Hunt combined for an opening round score of three-over par at the World Amateur Championships in Antalya, Turkey.The local trio are tied in 37th position with Australia, South Africa, Brazil and hosts Turkey.The United States lead at 13-under, while Mexico are second at nine-under and South Korea third at eight-under.Dillas, who is 24th overall on the individual leaderboard, shot a two-under 69, while Haddrell carded a five-over 76 with Hunt seven over.Bermuda, who were yesterday paired with South Africa and Hong Kong China will today play with France and Pakistan.A total of 72 nations are competing for the prestigious Eisenhower Trophy at the Championships, which finishes on Monday.Several prominent golfers, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Jack Nicklaus, played at Championship before turning professional.
