Repeat victories order of day at Bermuda 4-ball Championship
There was a repeat victory at the Bermuda 4-Ball Championship on Sunday as Jevon Roberts and Oliver Betschart retained their title.
After finishing runners-up on three occasions, Roberts and Betschart broke their ducks at Port Royal Golf Course last year when leading for pretty much the entire tournament, but 12 months on they were forced to come from behind for victory.
An impressive five-under 66 in the final round in better conditions than those experienced on Saturday brought them from off the pace to overtake first-round leaders Spencer Wideman and Derrick Irby, who held off Jarryd Dillas and Damian Palanyandi to finish second.
There was a tight finish in the Ladies Championship Division, with the title only decided after a three-team play-off.
Rising star Darina Betschart produced a standout round of 1-over 72, the lowest score of the day, to bring her team level with overnight leaders Tracy Nash and Carine Brule, and defending champions Ann Symonds and Tracy Burgess.
But it was Symonds and Burgess who kept their composure to come out on top after the third extra hole to retain their title.
Sheldon Chychrun made up half of the winning team in the 2025 senior division with Arthur Jones and he tasted success again this time around alongside George Hutchings.
Chychrun and Hutchings finished deadlocked after 36 holes with retired former athletes Mark Ray and Kyle Lightbourne.
That forced the match into a one-hole play-off, in which Ray was forced to go solo after Lightbourne was needed on the sidelines to oversee PHC’s 2-0 win over Young Men’s Social Club at Police Field.
Ray was unable to hold off his two rivals, with the trophy going to the team of two.
