Young golfer Darina Betschart has picked up a significant tournament win in the United States.

Betschart was victorious on the Southern Texas Junior Golf Association Tour at the Riverside Golf Course in San Antonio, winning the 13 to 14 age group with a score of 4 over 76.

The teenager recorded three birdies, nine pars, five bogeys and a double bogey in her successful round, which came just days after she arrived in the US state on Wednesday.

“I was really pleased with the win today,” Betschart said.

“It got windier as the day went on, but I was able to take advantage of a couple of holes with my length off of the tee. But I also saw that I need to work on my short game, but really happy with the win.”

Betschart recently took part in the Butterfield Bermuda Junior Championship at Port Royal Golf Course, where she took on some of the best young golfers from around the world, finishing.
