Sienna Mosquera has chalked up her performance at this week’s Connecticut Women’s Open as great and valuable learning experience.

The Lehigh University Golf Team member finished tied for 33rd competing among a formidable 63-strong field at 19-over, 163.

Mosquera shot an opening round 78 which left her with everything still to play for heading into the second and final round of the 36-hole championship at a challenging Tumble Brook Golf Club layout, trailing joint leaders Yvette O'Brien and Dixon Hill by six shots.

However, the 19-year-old amateur player was unable to make further inroads over the final 18 holes as she slipped twelve places on the leaderboard from 21st to a share of 33rd after carding a bogey riddled 13-over 85.

Despite of her struggles in the final round, Mosquera has given her overall showing the thumbs up and can hardly wait to compete at the event again next year.

“Tumble Brook was in outstanding condition, with fast greens and demanding pin positions that tested every part of my game,” she told The Royal Gazette.

“I was really pleased with my first round, especially considering how challenging the course was.

“I felt some disappointment with my final round score, but I’m proud of the way I competed within a strong field of players.

“It was a great learning experience for me and a valuable opportunity playing alongside professionals.

“I am looking forward to returning to this tournament next year and excited to keep progressing my game.”

Mosquera was accompanied by coach and caddie Kim Swan, the multiple Bermuda Open winner and former European Tour player.

“Having coach Kim Swan as my caddie was a privilege and we have a strong partnership on the course built on trust,” she said.

“His experience was invaluable in helping me navigate some difficult situations out there on the course.”

Joint overnight leader O'Brien, of the United States, won the tournament by three shots.
