Madeiros wins Georgia state title
Jacob Madeiros won gold in the vault and the high bars to complete a memorable success in the Georgia State Championships over the weekend.
The ten-year-old Bermudian trains with his brother, Toby, at the YMCA in Savannah and became the first youngster to win the state title for his gym, while his eight-year-old brother placed fourth in the floor and the pommel horse with personal best scores.
“I want to note how proud we are of the boys in their accomplishments and in [their] hard work and dedication,” the boys' father, Alex, said.
“We encourage young Bermudian males to take advantage of the Bermuda Gymnastics programme, as this provided the foundation for which we are grateful.
“By moving to the United States, Jacob and Toby have access to quality training and consistent competitions to help them improve.
“They currently train under Adrian Sims and Jon Gibson of the YMCA, who, through advanced techniques, have moved the boys programme at the YMCA to new heights.”
