Health Ministry water testing facility moved to Southside
The Health Department has shifted its water quality testing to Southside because its intended location is not ready yet.Works Minister Derrick Burgess said Health Ministry labs had to be moved from Point Finger Road, Paget, because the hospital redevelopment was about to begin. He said the short-term plan was to house them at the former Metro Building on Hermitage Road before moving them to a permanent home at a new Health Department at Marsh Folly. But construction work in Hermitage Road will not be completed until January, so they have been moved on a temporary basis to property owned by Bermuda Land Development Company in Southside.Mr Burgess gave the information in response to Parliamentary Questions from Shadow Works Minister Patricia Gordon-Pamplin.Shadow Health Minister Louise Jackson has previously raised concerns about staff being moved out of their labs on Point Finger Road, claiming some had to work from home with their laptops.
