After more than 40 years spent labouring in the medical field, Susan Pedro has been named the 2012 Nurse of the Year for her dedication.Mrs Pedro, who currently works in Communicatable Diseases at the Department of Health, said she was shocked and honoured to be given the award by her colleagues.“I was very moved, excited, and very surprised,” she said. “It was a great surprise, it really was, but I’m very honoured.”Along with working for the Health Department for more than 30 years, Mrs Pedro is one of the Islands few forensic nurses, working with victims of sexual assault, and is a dedicated volunteer for PALS.
