Restaurant welcomes patrons back after almost a week
A Front Street eatery reopened today after a building issue forced it to close for almost a week.
A health inspector ordered One29 to close last week after an unknown issue caused fire-suppressant material to fall from beams.
Kentis Kishtoo, chief operating officer of restaurant operators Take Five Limited, said the ceilings inside the facility and its corridor have been covered in white fireproof paint to resolve the issue.
He explained: “The health department has been in touch with us throughout the entire process, and an inspector informed us that we could reopen this morning.
“The health department, as well as our landlords, have been completely co-operative and supportive throughout this entire process.”
Mr Kishtoo added that the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service has not visited the building since the reopening, but approved the kind of paint that would be used for the ceiling.
He thanked patrons for their understanding during the closure, saying: “All our staff are excited to welcome them back here — everything we do at Take Five is about service and the customers.”
The Royal Gazette reached out to the Ministry of Health and the BFRS for comment, but has not yet received a response.
