Wildcats thrash Canaries

Ravens 0Bluebirds 3Bluebirds were too strong for Ravens on the grass surface at the National Sports Centre.It took both teams a while to settle down with Ravens taking a more defensive stance in the first half with Bluebirds moving the ball nicely around the pitch.Laura Bardgett was able to connect on one of these occasions and was awarded the first goal after her shot was deflected off a Ravens defender.Joanne Smith-Barrow found herself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and lifted the ball into the net for the Bluebirds second goal just before the half.Ravens certainly made up for in effort, with their junior players working tirelessly for 35 minutes to try and get a goal back.They came out in the second half with renewed vigour and worked hard to move the ball around and utilise the whole pitch with Georgia Harris proving invaluable in the midfield.Despite some fancy keeping from Jo Bielby and solid defending by Jenn Adderley and Sue Ward, in the dying moments of the game, Barrow-Smith had a déjà vu moment and found herself in the exact same position in front of the keeper and converted her second goal of the day.Wildcats 5Canaries 0Susanna Almeida and Karen Campbell are proving to be the driving force in Wildcats with both scoring two goals apiece.Eva Dillas also scored in Wildcats’ convincing victory.Budgies 6Cardinals 0Jasalle Smith scored a hat-trick as Budgies thrashed Cardinals.Tracy Stewart, Raven Pearman and Amy Fox also chipped in with a goal apiece.
