Budgies 2 Ravens 1

Budgies won the battle of the top two teams in the division in a closely contested match.

They started off the better of the two sides and dominated most of the first half with Keishae Robinson opening the scoring in the 22nd minute.

Ten seconds into the second half, however, Ravens took advantage of a long ball down the middle of the pitch, allowing Georgia Harris to score past Latonia Fray.

Robinson would score the winner in the dying minutes to grab maximum points for her side.

Longtail/Canaries 4

Cardinals 2

Longtails/Canaries made a winning start to 2013 with their win over Cardinals thanks to four goals from Maya Palacio.

Cardinals were the aggressors early in the game and grabbed the first goal through Iesha Castle in the 13th minute.

An unmarked Palacio scored in the 31st minute to level the scores.

Six minutes in the second half saw Longtail/Canaries took the lead through Palacio again.

Cardinals were, however, level again in the 50th when Candy Foggo's shot on goal found the back of the net.

What appeared to be a lack of fitness and several errors by Cardinals saw an unmarked Palacio again coming through the middle to crack a shot at goal from the top of the circle that deflected off Holly Augustus' pads and into the goal for her hat-trick.

Palacio wasn't finished yet and added her fourth goal in the 64th.
