Jamie Lewis named head of casualty reinsurance for Aspen Reinsurance

Aspen Reinsurance, the reinsurance segment of Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited, has announced the appointment of Jamie Lewis as head of its casualty reinsurance business in London.In a press release, Aspen said Mr Lewis will be responsible for developing Aspen Re’s book of casualty reinsurance treaty and facultative business written from London, including both the US and international casualty portfolios. The London-based underwriters for the various casualty lines will report to him.Peter Emblin, managing director, head of casualty and speciality reinsurance, is reported as saying: “Jamie has a wealth of relevant reinsurance experience, particularly in all sectors of professional liability and he is ideally qualified to lead our casualty reinsurance business in London. This is an important market segment for us and we are strongly positioned to continue servicing our business, brokers and clients. We are investing in our casualty team in London to ensure that we remain a leading provider of reinsurance solutions there, recognising the importance of London market distribution..”Mr Lewis will be joining Aspen Re on November 1.Currently, he said president of IronHealth International, and Ironshore Europe Ltd, where he is responsible for building IronHealth’s brand in the London market as well as developing its international healthcare capabilities. Jamie was previously active underwriter at Renaissance Reinsurance Syndicate Management Ltd and prior to that, he was vice president with Renaissance Reinsurance in Bermuda.Aspen Re has gross written premiums of US$1.2 billion in 2012. Aspen Re is a speciality reinsurancer and has offices in the United States, Bermuda, the UnitedKingdom, Switzerland, France, Germany and Singapore.
