Letters: Tourism can flourish
February 3, 2011Dear Sir,We have friends visiting the Island and this week they went to the Bermuda Gombey Revue at #6 Terminal. They couldn't have been more delighted, most especially with the reception they received… every single person involved was welcoming, pleasant, helpful, and enthusiastic. They then went across the street to have a drink, and were met with the same care, courtesy and friendliness from the bar tender and others at that establishment. If this wonderful attitude can be embraced by our whole Island, tourism will more than survive, it will flourish.HAPPY IN DEVONSHIREThanks for the courtesyFebruary 2, 2011Dear Sir,For some time I have been meaning to write to thank and commend all those who head to work each morning via the Middle Road past Somersfield, who are themselves hustling to get to Town on time in all sorts of weather. Stopping to let people out onto a through road can often disrupt the flow of traffic, but I don't know what those of us who drop children at Somersfield would do if it weren't for the constant kind and thoughtful drivers who daily let us in and out. I, for one, am very grateful and each time it happens, I quietly wish you “a safe and happy day”!SCHOOL RUNDevonshire

Dear Sir,
As a hardworking Bermudian female, it is shameful to know that in order for you to keep a job that you love on this beautiful island of Bermuda, you have to abide by disturbing disgusting acts in the workplace. When you are a person like myself and you don't fall prey to those disturbing acts you get treated as an outcast. I have had to quit most of my previous positions because of being sexual harassed or on the other hand, I was let go. I took this time to speak out now, because I am a very disgusted Bermudian female. Also for other women of Bermuda, please don't feel you are obligated to conduct yourself in an uncomfortable manner that will have you wondering if you will still have your job or not! Don't be afraid to speak up!
